Let’s talk about voice marketing.

For pop culture it all started with Siri, the first modern digital virtual assistant installed on a smartphone.

When seeing Siri’s success, other big companies started launching their own voice assistants.

Google Assistant and Microsoft’s Cortana just to name a few.

These assistants are installed on smart speakers like Amazon Echo (Alexa) and Google Home.

It was great, so great it inspired Spike Jonze to write and direct Her, an Oscar-winning movie that followed the story of a man who developed a relationship with an intelligent computer operating system personified through a female voice, just like Siri.

And it’s getting bigger and bigger.

A recent study showed that 75% of smart speaker owners perform searches on a weekly basis, and an astonishing 53% say they perform searches every day.

By 2019, the voice recognition market will be worth $601 millions, and by the end of 2022, voice commerce will be a $40 billion.

Smart speakers will become the new smartwatches, phones, tablets, and laptops.

It’s a fact, a fact that’s driving new forms of advertising.

Have you seen the ‘Alexa Loses Her Voice’ Super Bowl commercial?
Watch this.

Purina also took part in this revolution and launched the Ask Purina Alexa skill through which dog owners can ask Alexa questions about their pets. This enables Purina to be an authority in the space of dog-related information.

These technologies are taking all over the world, if you don’t believe me, you need to take a closer look:

  • 19% of people use Siri at least daily.
  • 37% use Siri, 23% use Microsoft’s Cortana AI, and 19% use Amazon’s Alexa AI at least monthly.
  • 20% of search queries on Google’s mobile app and on Android devices are voice searches.
  • 60% of smartphone users who use voice search have begun using it within the past year, with 41% of survey respondents having only begun to use voice search in the past six months.
  • 43% of mobile voice search users do so because they say it is quicker than going on a website or using an app.
  • By 2020, 50% of all searches are going to be voice initiated.
    - By 2022, 50% of American homes will include at least one smart speaker.

Are you convinced now?
Are you craving for one of those smart speakers?
When will you get one?
